  Why JW's know so much about the Bible

  a jw explains how their group can tell jesus returned 'invisibly' on another discussion board:you are right that you would probably need to be one of jehovah's witnesses to see all the things that we see.

  jehovah's witnesses study the bible in ways that a lot of other people don't.

  we dig into it, read it, understand and see meaning in scriptures that for a lot of people don't make much sense.. .

  you all know what i'm talking about; there were at least 3 brothers in the congregation that had one.

  Oye Vey!

  Ok where do I begin, first someone mentioned that the Watchtower publications tell them what to understand in the bible, This is so true, what they are actually learning is indoctrination into the ORGs beliefs. With out the tracts and had to go on bible alone they would be lost.

  I hate the way that when you confront a JW they can NOT answer you alone, meaning they pull out the bible with ready made scriptures for every situation, say you challenge them on something like the blood issue, they have by memory every verse of the bible that they are to quote from, in some attempt to seem smart or like they know what they are talking about, they learn how to react to this every thursday.

  The JW bible is a molested version first authorized by the Catholic church, they only made changes to suit their needs, if you only have a JW version then I suggest you get a real bible and compare.

  Why do JW's know so much about the bible?

  i just thought it would be nice to have a documented case of someone other than a jw having been 'protected' from rape, carjacking, murder or mugging in an unusual way (ie.

  praying, preaching or screaming 'o my god' and the guy stops and apologizes.).

  the idea is that i can the relate the experience to a witness, .

  Does it feel good to hurt? Why do we make ourselves sad?

  i've noticed that there are certain songs, movies, memories, etc that make me sad.

  there is even a category of music we call "sad songs".

  it seems obvious that we would never listen to something that makes us sad.

  Sometimes when your feeling sad or hurt, its the only feeling you can feel. I hurt myself today to see if I still feel I focus on the pain the only thing that's real the needle tears a hole the old familiar sting try to kill it all away but I remember everything NIN.

  Just realized I don't know my mother's birthday!

  i was reading another topic (in the private forum, so i won't disclose), and i realized that i couldn't send my mother birthday greetings if i wanted to--or if she'd accept them.

  i don't know when her birthday is!

  i know it's some time in late august and i know the year.. but we never celebrated birthdays, so i don't know the date.

  i know we've heard a lot of horror stories about jcs and getting disfellowshipped.........................but what is your experiences of continuing going to the meetings to be reinstated.............what did it really feel like?.

  did you mind being ignored or did you understand it and take it on the chin?.................................what were your familys treatment of you during the period of having to sit on the back row????.

  when i saw ppl comming in late and leaving early .....................i just knew it was wrong, wrong , wrong to treat ppl that way.. in fact i got told off for smiling at a sister who i knew genuinly wanted to come back,( the pos wife told me ) i did it out of human feelings and was then blasted.. after she got reinstated, i was the first person she came upto and introduced herself.

  I've been so sick of all the BS from the JW's, that when my mom re-married I told them that I would not attend the wedding because it was going to be inside a Kingdumb hall. I did make it to the reception, just in time to see the whole place packed with JW's looking for free food and drinks.

  my wife (lifetime nonjw) has never been around any jdubs her whole life, until she met me and my crazy family.

  today i was reading some of the posts from this website, and she asked me why do jw call god jehovah and not just god or lord, isn't that like calling your own father by his real name?.

  i remember when i was a kid i said lord once and my dad corrected me and said jehovah, why is that?
